Confessor - Blueprint Soul
1. Sour Times
2. Hibernation
3. Blueprint Soul

The year is 1991; the Death Metal juggernaut is at full steam ahead. Every band has one mission driving them forward, to scale new heights of gore, speed and just being more extreme than the lat five-minute wonder. Then came Confessor! The North Carolina quintets 1991 release “Condemned”, was certainly a break with the Death Metal traditions. This technical Doom / Thrash highbred certainly came out of left field, and like the proverbial phoenix burnt away no sooner than they had arrived.

Fast-forward 13 years, and we are presented with the Confessor 2004 / 05 vision of mastery, “Blueprint Soul”. This three-song offering was used very effectively in securing the now confirmed record deal with Seasons Of Mist Records, but in its own right sees the band return in blistering fashion. “Sour Times” is the first taste of what Confessor are offering in the way of new material and while not a rip-rouring song, it looses nothing of its power as a consequence. Without doubt the jewel in the Confessor crown has always been the vocal talent of Scott Jeffreys and time has done nothing to dampen the mans vocal prowess.

“Hibernation” and “Blueprint Soul” are where this demo jumps into life. Proving what a cohesive unit Confessor are; with a solid structured feel the songs are a true demonstration of the bands talents and this laid out for all to bare witness. Crushing riffs and technical beats are offered in abundance and “Blueprint Soul” is a fitting tribute to the late, but not forgotten Ivan Colon. For all the old school fan’s this should rekindle memories long since forgotten…and for all beginners to Confessor, this should prove a very enjoyable introduction. This only serves to wet the appetites for the new album…
