If ever there was a marriage made in heaven or even hell for that matter, you would think Debris Inc would be it. The coming together of two of the great icons of the Doom genre, Dave Chandler and Ron Holzner, should have been the spring board for an album monumental proportions. Doom aficionados beware however, as Debris Inc's debut is not from the manual of how to write a Doom record.

What this debut album is however is a homage to a bygone age of early Punk and Hardcore. Chandler's early SST Saint Vitus days, where obviously spent absorbing then label mates Black Flag and Bad Brains magic formula. Production is muddy and raw and bares more than some uncanny similarities in production to the aforementioned Black Flag's early releases. With Ron Holzner producing the opus you feel the low end production only adds to the songs rather than serving to detract, and was achieved with a purpose and intent in mind.

While the core of the band remains, and we are assured will always be the case, a two piece outfit. The drumming duties on the record read as a who's who of new and old Doom and Stoner drummers. Greg Rogers and the late Barry Stern amongst others all leave their mark on the proceedings. This original and somewhat unusual concept however does have a down side to the detriment of the record. The lack of continuity and varying styles does leave some songs with a disjointed feel. Again however, how much of this is as a result of Chandler and Holzner's grand plan of the overall sound of the record and how much is by accident we may never know. What is a bliss to the ears, is to hear the crushing riffs and rasping vocals of Dave Chandler. Away from music for too long, and with his return the listener is reminded of what this man is capable of and what he still has to offer the world.

In such songs as "Full Of Shit" and "Fuckin' Mess" we are given an indication as to the turmoil and hate filled feelings that Debis Inc bring with them to this record. The Punk edge that permeates the whole record, while many would consider an unusual step for two such as Chandler and Holzner, does get down right and dirty. The cover of Fear's classic "I Love Living In The City" is the perfect accompaniment to Debris Inc's vision of Puck al la 2005.
